Dynamic Information Acquisition from Multiple Sources∗
نویسندگان
چکیده
Decision-makers often aggregate information across many sources, each of which provides relevant information. We introduce a dynamic learning model where a decisionmaker sequentially acquires Gaussian signals that are related by a flexible correlation structure. Such a setting describes sequential search between similar products, as well as reading news articles with correlated biases. We study the optimal sequence of information acquisitions. Assuming the final decision depends on a one-dimensional statistic, we show that myopic signal acquisitions are nonetheless optimal at sufficiently late periods. In classes of informational environments that we describe, the myopic rule is optimal from period 1. These results hold independently of the decision problem and its (endogenous or exogenous) timing. We apply these results to characterize dynamic information acquisition in games. JEL codes: C44, D81, D83

A Distributed Problem Solving Approach to Cooperative Information Gathering
Introduction: The complexity of the modern information carrying landscape requires a sophisticated view in which information is acquired rather than simply retrieved; where the process must be dynamic, incremental, and constrained by resource limitations. Information Gathering (IG) is an activity involving pro-active acquisition of information, from possibly heterogeneous sources, in response t...
متن کاملUncertainty in the Information Supply Chain: Integration of Multiple Data Sources
Knowledge workers often deal with multiple sources of data when acquiring information for decision making. Multiple data sources are valuable for knowledge creation, but deciding how to integrate and analyze these different data sources is difficult. The data acquisition process and the task of correctly combining and manipulating data these data in the “information supply chain” have challenge...

متن کاملPerformance Analysis of an Industrial Robot Under Uniform Temperature Change
The effect of temperature change on dynamic performances of an industrial robot with six axes of freedom is studied in this paper. In general, the strain and stress are produced not only by the external exciting force, but also by temperature change. The strain energy that is caused by temperatureThis paper describes how the temperature variation effects the dynamic performance of an indu...
